Lafayette, Louisiana

Louisiana is a state associated with its unique Cajun culture, a blend of urban America and French charm, a culture that expresses itself famously through music, food, and widespread festivals. Lafayette offers that traditional Cajun vibe as well with all the delicious cuisine, local live music, and endless partying associated with the bayous of Louisiana. If you’re looking for place where work and play are treated with the same importance, Lafayette is your place.

Lafayette has several things to do for anyone looking to have a good time. Things to see like the historical Acadian Village, the Acadian Culture Center, Vermillionville, the Alexandre Mounton House, and the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist all allow visitors to interact face to face with Lafayette’s rich, colorful past through viewing the beautiful architecture and learning about the location as you go.

The outdoors are just as enthralling, too. A number of nature tours span the area, and you can visit the Acadiana Park nature station or even the Lake Martin Rookery, a nearby bayou that has plenty of opportunities for exploring and seeing the local wildlife. Evangeline State Park is also a nice outdoor park with access to a historical plantation house, which you can take a tour through to get the experience of both a park and some history.

Lafayette is also, of course, big on nightlife, and hosts a number of bars and lounges where live music is played and delicious food is served, like the Blue Moon Saloon or the Grouse Room. Warehouse 535 is a 75-year-old warehouse that’s been renovated into a space for hosting special events, with a frequently-updated calender of events on their website for visitors.

No matter what, you should make it a point to stop in Lafayette, Louisiana.
